TOU Energy Cost Management, as a
“behind the meter” application, is analogous to the utility scale time-shift
application for energy storage in that it focuses on reducing peak energy
consumption. In this application the energy storage device would be charged
during less-expensive off-peak time periods. By discharging the device during
more expensive peak periods, an end-user can reduce their electricity costs (Baxter, 2006) .
